World Elders day celebrated

World Elders Day was celebrated at 'Vishwas,' an organization that has been rendering yeoman's service towards the welfare and well-being of senior citizens in the city, on Thursday October 1.

Lizzie Pereira was the chief guest of a function organized in this connection. Addressing the elderly, she suggested to them, to improvise their lifestyles, forgetting about the age factor, to make their lives enjoyable. Taking active part in various activities and games that make the mind work, improve the capability of the elderly citizens to maintain a peaceful mind and live life without any tensions. The senior citizens should never worry about their age, and on the other hand, they should make their lives fruitful by engaging in creative activities, she added.

The programme was followed by games based on singing, skits by the members of the Home and also by the students of social work colleges in the city.

Along with the inmates of the Home, about 80 senior citizens were present at the programme. Yoga trainer and senior citizen, H N Narasimha was the compere of the programme. B Ananth, member of Valencia Day Centre, welcomed the gathering and extended best wishes to all the elderly people on the occasion of the World Elders Day.

Vote of thanks was proposed by Trapthi, a MSW student placed at Vishwas Agency. Secretary of the Home, Felcy Pinto and Sr Olida Pereira of Roshni Nilaya, apart from some others, were present.
